Your privacy is extremely important to us. Our mission is to help people control the information they consume and the information that represents them, and privacy is a key part of that mission.
We don't ever intentionally collect your name, address, phone number, credit card numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.
We never release personally-identifiable data of any kind to anyone under any circumstances.

We offer one service at this time, Inferknow Green. Green offsets your computer's carbon footprint for free while your computer's browser interacts with the web. Green consists of a Firefox browser extension, a web service, and an optional Facebook Application. The browser extension calculates how many carbon credits we should purchase to offset the greenhouse gas emissions due to your computer's power consumption. The web service records this information, plus your computer's Internet Protocol address, the urls of websites you visit, and the urls of the default ads that are shown on the websites you visit. Without knowing who you are, where you live, or anything else about you, we use the data we collect to build a set of ads that are customized to the specific interests evidenced by the browser on your computer. Then we display the ads to you in the spaces that are reserved for showing ads on the webpages you visit. The Green Facebook Application displays your carbon offsetting progress on your Facebook profile page and lets you plant virtual trees for your friends. Each time you plant a tree for a friend, we publish a short story about it in your Facebook mini-feed.
We only keep the data we collect from your computer for a limited time, until it has been used to personalize your ads. We store the data in a secure database. Once it is no longer needed, your data is deleted from our database.
Browsing Data - When you browse the web with the Inferknow Green web browser extension installed, we collect your computer's Internet Protocol address, the urls of websites you visit, and the urls of the default ads that are shown on the websites you visit. We use these data to build a set of ads that are customized to the specific interests evidenced by the browser on your computer.
Facebook profile data - When you add the Inferknow Green Facebook Application to your Facebook profile, we may cache your gender, your birthday, your relationship status, your current location, and your interests. We do not share this data with anyone. We integrate these data into our statistical models to improve our ad delivery service. If we do cache any of these data, it is in strict accordance with the Facebook policies on data caching and privacy. We do not collect your name, address, phone number, email address, credit card number, or any other personally identifiable information from your Facebook profile.
Inferknow cookies - When you install the Green Firefox extension, we send one or more cookies - a small file containing a string of characters - to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. The Inferknow website and the Inferknow Green Facebook Application also send cookies to your browser, though they do not uniquely identify your browser. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends.
Log information - When you use Inferknow Green or visit the Inferknow website, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends to us. Depending on how your browser is configured, these server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.
User communications - When you send email or other communication to Inferknow, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
Links - Inferknow may present links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of our services, including advertising.
Other sites - This Privacy Policy applies to web sites and services that are owned and operated by Inferknow. We do not exercise control over the other sites you may visit when the Inferknow Green browser extension is installed. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you.

Inferknow processes information on our servers in the United States of America and possibly in other countries. In some cases, we may process information on behalf of and according to the instructions of a third party, such as our advertising partners.
Inferknow processes data only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Policy or any applicable service-specific privacy notice. We review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the data needed to provide or improve our services.

We may share non-personally-identifiable data we collect from you in limited cases with our trusted partners, for example to help us better target the ads we show you. We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of Inferknow, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.
If Inferknow becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, it may transfer all information to the acquirer, who may put in place a different privacy policy.
We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, for example the number of users who visit websites about clouds, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you individually.

These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store data.
We restrict access to data to Inferknow employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent, and we expect most such changes will be minor.
