Green is easy to install and works automatically. Once it is installed, just browse the web like you already do. There are no special webpages to visit, no special buttons to click, no annoying popup ads to contend with. As you browse the web, Green learns about your interests and places relevant ads in the spaces that are already reserved for ads on the webpages you visit. You won't see any more ads than usual. In fact, in most cases you will see fewer ads with Green installed.

Check your progress whenever you want

You can check your personal progress and the progress of the Green community as you browse the web. We measure the progress of the projects we fund by the number of lbs of CO₂ they "offset" or cancel.

For example, a coal-fired power plant—the kind that generates 85% of the world's electricity—produces about 1.5 lbs of CO₂ for every kilowatt of electricity. A wind turbine does not produce any CO₂ as it makes electricity, so each kilowatt it provides cancels 1.5 lbs of CO₂ from the coal-burning plant. When you see your personal progress meter go up by 1.5 lbs, that means you helped provide one kilowatt of clean electricity without adding any pollution to the air.

To see your progress, just place your mouse over the little green leaf in the lower right-hand corner of your browser window, and you'll see a panel that shows you how many lbs of CO₂ you and the Green community have offset so far:
